What I'm Watching This Summer

Watching Now:
  • Skins (Just a few more episodes left in series 4)
  • Doctor Who (On series 4)
  • Torchwood (On series 1)
  • Heroes s1 (Regarded as the best season, so why not? Also, Christopher Eccleston. So there's that.)

Watching Soon:
  • Treme (Need to catch up from episode 3)
  • FlashForward (Need to catch up from episode 18)
  • Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Not sure where I can watch this...)

Watching... Sometime:
  • The Wire (Regrettably, not on Netflix, so I don't know what I'm going to do... Megavideo will be the death of me. Maybe I'll buy the DVDs, dunno.)
  • Angel (Saw the first season, hated it. But I feel like I need to tough it out for Joss, the Buffster, and Cordy. So one day I will.)
  • Six Feet Under
  • Pushing Daisies s2
Watching Intermittently:
  • The State

Flashforward - Forking Paths, 1.17

GAIUS BALTAR!

Also, nice suspense-building concerning Building 6. It took, like, half the episode, but was done pretty well. Thank the Lord John Cho lives!

No Jack Davenport this episode, which I'm okay with, but not seeing Simon involved makes me unhappy. I love that character, and I wish he'd interact with Janis more because they have good chemistry (lol'd so much at Janis popping up everywhere, stoic, when he tried to get away that one episode) and he's the only one that knows she's the mole. I get that they didn't have time to address it this episode, but it was a very distracting loose end, especially when Wedeck was urging her to work faster at locating Mark - you didn't know if she was sabotaging it on purpose. Maybe that was the point, but it was frustrating.

Finally - Union Station! It was only a matter of time before the LA-based crew used it. It's seen a lot of action lately, from Chuck to Monk to something else I'm forgetting...

FlashForward - Revelation Zero, Pts. 1 & 2, 1.11-12

FlashForward is so dumb. I love it.

The primary basis for an FBI investigation on a worldwide supernatural phenomena? A public website where civilians post their experiences. Don't remember parts of your blackout? Just take a drug, you'll remember it all.

Discrepancies include:
  • Simon being inducted into the FBI
  • Mark being given a second chance, even with therapy
  • Is the occurrence of the FlashForwards a factor in the future one sees? The window washer saw himself as a successful speaker, which he only began to pursue solely because he saw himself as such. Mark's primary leads on the case are from his future cork board collage.
  • Concerning the last point, as further inquiry: Bryce doesn't commit suicide because he sees a happy future. Yet he doesn't pull the trigger because he sees this fate. This leads me to believe the FlashForwards' future(s; Simon brings up that each is only a possible future, and each person could foresee a separate, individual future) are reliant on the FlashForwards themselves. However...
  • ...I may not be thinking this through clearly enough, but I believe this presents a paradox. Maybe I shouldn't think too hard about FlashForward in general. I watch it more as a comedy. It's just another installment in my Thusday comedy night.

I noticed while watching the credits that Paul Rabwin works on FF. Interesting. It's a step down.
